Kanye West's new album The Life of Pablo has only been available through streaming on Tidal, but that's finally changed as the LP is now available for download. The catch is that you must be one of the people who originally purchased The Life of Pablo on its release day before it was taken down for sale or got a download code as part of the Yeezy Season 3 show at Madison Square Garden.
While it's not a massive change, this seems to be another sign that Kanye West might be freeing the limits of The Life of Pablo being a Tidal streaming exclusive. The Chicago rapper has already released " Famous " as a single, meaning the song can now be streamed on services like Spotify and Apple Music. An album typically goes platinum after selling 1 million copies. They decided that streams of a song would equal one song download, and 10 song downloads would equal one album download. So if 1, streams equals one album sale, and you multiply that by the 1 million album sales needed to go platinum, you get a minimum requirement of 1.
But Kanye never made The Life of Pablo available for sale on platforms like iTunes, instead limiting it originally to Tidal before expanding to other streaming-only platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
While Kanye did make the album available for purchase and download on his own site, that accounted for less than one percent of first week units, and the album met platinum conditions without considering those sales.
There was a melted gold center, an image that was assumed to be a Jesus piece after being set ablaze. When the album was finally released, though, Yeezus sported a blank cover. These are impeccable visual artists, to give us no cover was like McDonald's taking the Mac sauce off the Big Mac.

It lacks the detail and small intricacies of his previous works. Peter De Potter is a Belgium artist that has made a name for himself in the art world for years but most recently conquered Tumblr with his well-crafted collages that take images he discovers on social media and alters them to match his vision.
If you view his work, the screengrabs of his more recent art all have some kind of text written over the images. What he created for The Life Of Pablo fits right into his style of minimum alteration. The combination of words and photos create a scene of sorts. Swimsuit model Sheniz Halil was slapped on the bottom of the alternative art and the wedding photo is moved into the center.
While fans of Peter's work might find the artwork fitting, most Kanye fans are rather underwhelmed. Before even a day could pass, once the artwork was unveiled it became duplicated, remade and remastered by the fans. Outside of the fan-made covers, Peter joins Kaws, Condo, and Murakami as artists who have contributed cover art for Kanye.
